get_user_pages() also honors copy-on-write (CoW) semantics. If a write is detected to a non-writable page table entry, an “page fault” is emulated by calling handle_mm_fault, the core page fault handler. This triggers the appropriate CoW handling routine via do_wp_page, which copies the page if necessary.
