This seems like a really good way to introduce the basics of sequencing and beatmaking to kids and young adults, being that DAWs and grooveboxes can feature a steep learning curve. What you are actually trying to get your system to achieve is what influences execution the most. If the Suspend path involves I/O, a lock, or any kind of allocation, you’re measuring nanosecond noise against microsecond signal. A function call boundary is on the order of a few cycles. A syscall is thousands. Don’t treat them as the same kind of cost. You know these don’t belong in the same conversation.
